Hardy Native Herbaceous Perennial, usually of Meadows and Arable land; with dense heads of Red or Pink pea flowers in May to September.

Very attractive to Butterflies and Bees. A major nectar plant for many Bumblebee species, foodplant of the Clouded Yellow and Pale Couded Yellow butterfly caterpillars
Was widely used in herbal medicine for skin complaints, and for whooping cough.
