Hardy Native Herbaceous Biennial or Perennial, usually of hedgerows, woodland margins, wasteland and cliffs, often coastal; with large, dense umbels of small yellow florets; on stout stems above bold, shiny foliage in March to June.

Very attractive to Bees and flies.
Other Interest:
leaves and shoots can be cooked as vegetables, and seeds ground for use as a condiment. No longer used medicinally (for asthma)
