Hardy Native Herbaceous Perennial, usually of dry grassland and road verges; with many dense clusters of small, yellow flowers on tall, brittle stems above deep green foliage in June to September.

Very attractive to Beetles and Flies.

Other Interest:

Used as a strewing herb, as the drying foliage has a pleasant aroma; used in herbal medicine for kidney and bladder complaints; also the foliage produces a yellow dye used to colour cheese (especially Double Gloucester) and butter.
